Hidden Parisian passageways that you shouldn't miss!

Fashion shoot in Parisian passage

Wandering in the city of Paris is just like travelling back in time. Typical blue-roof Haussmannian buildings on the streets of Paris and the 19th-century covered passageways are two iconic spots that you certainly shouldn’t miss. These passageways have now become shopping arcades, with restaurants and small charming shops selling vintage items, books, artwork etc. Another good thing about shooting in passageways is that it provides cover, making the light softer and more appealing, and on rainy days it provides a good shelter for the photoshoot to go on. Most of these passageways can be found around the 2nd and 9th arrondissement, and I'll name a few of my favourites below:

1. Galerie Vivienne

Galerie Vivienne is one of the most beautifully decorated Parisian passageways with mosaic patterns on the floor. Today, it is a shopping arcade with some restaurants and shops mainly selling high-end goods. During Christmas, small lights are set up everywhere in this little passageway which adds a lot to the festive atmosphere! If you're interested to know more, please also go to my article about Christmas in Paris.

2. Passage des Princes

Passages des Princes is one of the lesser-known passageways, yet it is very well-designed with vintage wall lamps along the corridor. It is also beautifully lit by natural light coming through its glass ceilings. The diagonal patterns of the floor tiles give an additional charm to the place.

3. Passage Jouffroy

Passage Jouffroy is another of my favourites. At the entrance, you could never imagine what it is like inside. As you enter, you would feel as if you're entering a secret society premises. When the mystery unfolds, you will find a lively arcade with several nice bookstores and cute boutiques. An incredible location for a small photo session, and definitely worth a visit if you happen to pass by the area!

4. Galerie Véro-Dodat

Galerie Véro-Dodat is not far from the Louvre, so you can easily combine that with a shooting in Palais Royal as well!

And many more of course! I'll choose the best that suits you along the route of your shooting.
